Alex Cartwright Elected to Phi Beta Kappa

Hampden-Sydney College junior Alexander Chase Cartwright was recently elected to the honor society Phi Beta Kappa. Membership recognizes the highest academic achievement, moral character, responsible citizenship, and broad intellectual curiosity.

A Madison Scholar, Alex serves as President of the Pre-Law Society, as 1st Reviewer of the Union-Philanthropic Society, as Opinion Editor of the student newspaper, The Hampden-Sydney Tiger, and as a member of the Student Court. He is a member of the Society of '91 (leadership program), the President's Men, and the honor societies Omicron Delta Kappa (leadership), Phi Alpha Delta (law), and the Society for Collegiate Journalists. Alex was recognized for leadership in the 2012 edition of Who's Who Among Students in Universities and Colleges and was the recipient of the Samuel S. Jones Phi Beta Kappa Award at Opening Convocation in August 2011. A mathematical economics major, Alex is a graduate of Westfield School and is the son of son of Bob & Mindy Cartwright of Howard.
