Drake Bishop Initiated into Phi Beta Kappa

Hampden-Sydney College junior Johnathon Drake Bishop was initiated into the honor society Phi Beta Kappa on Monday, April 8. Membership recognizes the highest academic achievement, moral character, responsible citizenship, and broad intellectual curiosity.

A Patrick Henry Scholar, Drake serves as Vice President of the Pre-Health Society and as a lab technician for the Biology Department. He is a member of Circle K International, the honorary societies Chi Beta Phi (sciences) and Eta Sigma Phi (classics) and the professional scientific fraternity Alpha Chi Sigma.  Drake has been accepted at Eastern Virginia Medical School. A biology major, Drake is a graduate of Nottoway High School and is the son of John Bishop and Cynthia & Mark Longest, all of Blackstone.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
