James Hughes Elected to Student Senate at Hampden-Sydney College

James Raymond Hughes was recently elected to the Student Senate at Hampden-Sydney College. As a representative of the junior class, he will serve for the 2013-2014 academic year. Student self-government, first introduced at the College in 1886, has a long and respected tradition. The Student Senate transacts all student body business and has legislative jurisdiction over various phases of student campus life.
James is a graduate of Middle Creek High School in Apex and is the son of Karen & John Hughes of Raleigh.
A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
