Jason Haas Initiated into Chi Beta Phi at Hampden-Sydney College

On April 12 Hampden-Sydney College student Jason Matthew Haas was initiated into the Gamma Chapter of Chi Beta Phi, the national honorary science society that recognizes and rewards academic excellence in the sciences and encourages participation in scientific fields. The Gamma Chapter of this prestigious fraternity was installed at Hampden-Sydney in 1921.

A Patrick Henry Scholar, Jason serves as a Resident Advisor, plays defense on the varsity soccer team, and is a member of the President's Leadership Council. A biology major, Jason is a graduate of Menchville High School and is the son of Bryan & Melanie Haas of Newport News.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the needs of young men.
