John Chambers Inducted into Leadership Society

2012 Mar 26

On Sunday, March 25, Hampden-Sydney College junior John Robert Chambers was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society for college men and women. The Lambda Circle of ODK was established at Hampden-Sydney in 1924, and membership is a mark of highest distinction and honor. Selection of members is based on their influence as campus leaders to better campus life and to encourage high standards in all activities.

A Madison Scholar, John serves as Chair of the Student Senate and as President of the social fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He plays offensive line for the varsity football team. John is a member of the Pre-Business Society, the President's Men, and the Tiger Athletic Club. He was recognized for leadership in the 2012 edition of Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges and he received the Omicron Delta Kappa Award for leadership in Fall 2010. An economics and commerce major, he is a graduate of Saint Anne's-Belfield in Charlottesville, VA, and is the son of Judy & Martin Chambers of Centennial.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the needs of young men.
