John Chambers Initiated into Phi Beta Kappa

Hampden-Sydney College senior John Robert Chambers was initiated into the honor society Phi Beta Kappa on Monday, April 8. Membership recognizes the highest academic achievement, moral character, responsible citizenship, and broad intellectual curiosity.

A Madison Scholar, John serves as Chair of the Student Senate, as Vice-President of the honorary society Omicron Delta Kappa (leadership), and as President of the social fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He plays offensive line for the varsity football team. John is a member of the honorary society Phi Sigma Iota (foreign language), the Pre-Business Society, the President's Men, and the Tiger Athletic Club. He was recognized for leadership in Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges and he received the Omicron Delta Kappa Award for Leadership in Fall 2010. An economics and commerce and Spanish major, John is a graduate of Saint Anne's-Belfield in Charlottesville, VA, and is the son of Judy & Martin Chambers of Centennial, CO.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
