John Dekarske Initiated Into Sigma Xi at Hampden-Sydney College

Hampden-Sydney College senior John was recently initiated into the international honor Scientific Research Society. Membership recognizes students for excellence in scientific research and their ongoing commitment to foster collaboration and communication among the scientific community.

John is a member of the professional scientific fraternity Alpha Chi Sigma, the scientific honor society Chi Beta Phi, the honor society Phi Beta Kappa (academic), and the honor society Omicron Delta Kappa (leadership). He is also a Student Court Investigator, a member of the chess club, and a member of the computer science club. A chemistry major, John is a graduate of Southampton Academy and is the son of Bob & Sally Dekarske, previously of Franklin of Newburgh, IN.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked nationally in the top 100 of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
