Ke Shang Inducted into Leadership Society

On Sunday, October28, Hampden-Sydney College senior Ke Shang was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society for college men and women. The Lambda Circle of ODK was established at Hampden-Sydney in 1924, and membership is a mark of highest distinction and honor. Selection of members is based on their influence as campus leaders to better campus life and to encourage high standards in all activities.

A Patrick Henry Scholar, Ke serves as Captain of the varsity swim team, as President of the Math & Computer Science Club, and as Vice-President of the German Club. He is Co-Founder and Editor of the Hampden-Sydney College Journal of Science. Ke participated in the H-SC Summer Research Program and is a member of the honorary societies Chi Beta Phi (sciences) and Pi Mu Epsilon (math) and is a member of the professional scientific fraternity Alpha Chi Sigma. A physics and math major, he is a graduate of Beijing #35 Middle School and is the son of Mr. Chaohua Shang and Ms. Junyan Yang of Beijing, China.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the needs of young men.
