Ke Shang Initiated into Chi Beta Phi at Hampden-Sydney College

On April 12 Hampden-Sydney College student Ke Shang was initiated into the Gamma Chapter of Chi Beta Phi, the national honorary science society that recognizes and rewards academic excellence in the sciences and encourages participation in scientific fields. The Gamma Chapter of this prestigious fraternity was installed at Hampden-Sydney in 1921.

A Patrick Henry Scholar, Ke is a member of the Math and Computer Science Club, the Society of Physics Students, and the newly formed H-SC Swim Team. A physics and mathematics major, Ke is a graduate of Beijing #35 Middle School and is the son of Mr. Chaohua Shang and Ms. Junyan Yang of Beijing, China.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the needs of young men.
