Nay Min Oo Receives Public Service Certificate at Hampden-Sydney College

Hampden-Sydney College senior Nay Min Oo recently received the prestigious James Madison Public Service Certificate from Dr. David E. Marion, Director of the Wilson Center, and Dr. Christopher B. Howard, President of Hampden-Sydney College, on behalf of the Wilson Center for Leadership in the Public Interest. The Public Service Certificates are presented to seniors who have successfully completed a two-year concentration of classes, internship, and research and who are seriously considering careers in public service.
A Patrick Henry Scholar, Nay Min has been an active member of the International Club, serving as public relations officer and then as president. He is a member of the Student Committee for Recycling and Conservation (SCRAP), the President's Leadership Council, and the honor societies Phi Beta Kappa (academics) and Omicron Delta Kappa (leadership). Nah Min completed his internship with the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars as a research assistant following a semester at Georgetown University in the spring of 2011. Nay Min, a foreign affairs major, is a graduate of No. 6 Basic Education High School, makes his home in Philadelphia, and is the son of Mr. Kyaw Zaw and Mrs. Ywin Yee of Mandalay, Myanmar.
A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the needs of young men.
