Richard Pantele Receives Public Service Certificate at Hampden-Sydney College

Hampden-Sydney College senior Richard Michael Pantele recently received the prestigious James Madison Public Service Certificate from Dr. David E. Marion, Director of the Wilson Center, and Dr. Dennis G. Stevens, Provost and Dean of the Faculty at Hampden-Sydney College, on behalf of the Wilson Center for Leadership in the Public Interest. The Public Service Certificates are presented to seniors who have successfully completed a two-year concentration of classes, internship, and research and who are seriously considering careers in public service.

A Madison Scholar, Richard served as a member of the Student Court, as Senior Class Campaign Chairman, and as a Resident Advisor. He was President of the social fraternity Chi Phi, Vice-President of the Orthodox Christian Fellowship, and Secretary of the honorary society Pi Sigma Alpha (political science). Richard is a member of the honor society Omicron Delta Kappa (leadership), the Society of '91 (leadership program) and the Garnet & Grey Society (admissions tour guide). Richard, a government major, is a graduate of Mills E. Godwin High School and is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Michael Pantele of Richmond.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the needs of young men.
