Will Smith Recognized in Collegiate Who's Who

William Read Smith, a senior at Hampden-Sydney College, has been recognized as an outstanding campus leader in the 2013 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

Will serves as President of the varsity rugby club, as President of the social fraternity Theta Chi, and as President and House Manager of the German Club. He participated in the University of Chicago Booth School of Business Scholars Program, is a Data Intern for the Aspen Institute, and is a member of Students for Liberty, the Society of '91 (leadership program) and the honor society Omicron Delta Kappa (leadership). An economics and commerce major, Will is a graduate of Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, IL, and is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Michael A. Smith of Hampden-Sydney.

Sixteen students from Hampden-Sydney College were selected for this year's edition. Students are nominated by seniors, administrators, faculty, and coaches based on their academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities, and potential for continued success. They join a select group of students from more than 2000 institutions of higher learning in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and several foreign nations. Outstanding students have been honored in the annual directory since it was first published in 1934.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
