William Echols Initiated into Chi Beta Phi

Students attending Hampden-Sydney College were recently initiated into the honor scientific society, Chi Beta Phi. Membership recognizes individual excellence and passion in any respective field of science. The members of Chi Beta Phi are to promote interest in science and encourage wholesome fellowship. Chi Beta Phi became a nationally chartered organization in 1925 and has since grown to consist of more than 25 chapters.

William Echols is the son of Jeff & Peggy Echols (Roanoke, VA). A Patrick Henry Scholar, William serves as a Resident Advisor and volunteers with the Hampden-Sydney Fire and Rescue Squad. He is also a member of the Society of Physics Students, the Ethics Bowl team, the professional scientific fraternity Alpha Chi Sigma, and Circle K International.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked nationally by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
